Salad bowl by Jérôme Hirson
Ocher-colored stoneware salad bowl by Jérôme Hirson.
Unique piece made by hand.
Become one with the material and relearn the slowness of gestures: after fifteen years spent working on the assembly line in the automobile industry, Jérôme found what he needed to give a new direction to his life as a worker.
Jérôme's attachment to popular art is expressed in the creation of everyday pottery: plates, bowls, pitchers, dishes.
The link he establishes between this unique piece of work and the dishes is labor. Without negative connotation, labor is for him linked to manufacturing, to the fact of creating. Hence the choice of modeling and mass work as well as turning to create his ceramics with archaic, almost archaeological forms. “Sculpting allows me to achieve imperfections. An asymmetrical edge or an irregular curve give extra life to the room.
