Ceramic rhinoceros by Ule Ewelt
Ceramic Rhinoceros by Ule Ewelt.
Ule Ewelt was born in 1967 in Giessen, Germany. She has been modelling animal sculptures since the age of 14.
After studying geography, she worked for several years in an urban planning office focusing on nature conservation. Her path takes her back to her roots: the intensive, professional occupation of the land, in search of the inner being of animals and what connects us to them.
Ule's main challenge in depicting animals is to capture an internal movement, an instantaneous, dynamic image.
His intention is to place the viewers of his works in the era of prehistoric man, who, on his own impulse, succeeded in producing impressive works of art.
The artist works with plates, building his sculptures on his foot, with a clay structure inside to give it its volume.
Sculpted in raw clay, then smoked.
