Gauguin portrait plate by Magali Wagner
Portrait of Gauguin ceramic plate by Magali Wagner.
Magali Wagner draws her inspiration from all traditional pottery, seeking a sensitive language, free from the codes that would allow it to be linked to an era, a class, a group or a geography.
She oscillates between the vintage Chawan tea bowl and the chipped old farmhouse bowl.
Her connection with folk traditions brings questions of use and ergonomics very close to her.
Her choice of process and materials stems from the same quest for poetry. She prepares her clay to "nourish" it and prepares her glazes, which are for the most part traditional glazes (celadons, shinos, tenmoku, ash and earth glazes...) according to recipes developed by herself.
